Good olive mill and factory tours in Italy take small groups and the best-known ones fill weeks ahead. Below: the 15 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
At Olio Viola in Bardolino, a guide such as Elke explains Lake Garda’s olive-growing traditions and shows how extra virgin olive oil is made. You’ll visit the mill, watch a production video, then taste four oils, including Garda DOP, with bread, salami, olive pâté, and local olives in the garden.

At Frantoio La Macina Elena Bartolomei, a family-run mill near Chianciano Terme, you’ll tour the production rooms, see a 16th-century wooden press, and taste several EVO oils with pecorino, salame, truffle bruschetta and Chianti. Guido and other bilingual guides lead the one-hour visit.

Spend two hours at a family-run olive farm and mill in Miggiano, where nine generations have produced olive oil since the 1700s. Your English-speaking guide explains harvesting, pressing, storage, and quality grades, then leads a tasting with bruschetta, fresh ricotta, wine, and water. The farm and tasting are the focus, though the walking portion may be limited.
